On November 11, the 20th edition of the Italians in the World Report by the Migrantes Foundation was presented in Rome, focusing on the theme of expatriations and the so‑called “brain drain.” Since 2006, the migration balance of Italians shows a reduction of 817,000 citizens in 20 years. The majority are young people from Lombardy, Northeastern, and Southern Italy, who mainly choose other European countries as destinations. Almost 1 in 9 Italians is registered with the Registry of Italians Residing Abroad (AIRE).
