Scholarships for Italian‑language attendance of the Master’s Degree programmes in Sport Science and Techniques and Sport Management

Last academic year, this Ministry — in collaboration with the University of Rome “Foro Italico”, one of the most authoritative institutions for scientific research and academic training in the field of motor and sports sciences — launched the first edition of the scholarship programme “Italy Runs Toward the Future.”

The programme provides scholarships for young student‑athletes from Nigeria, among other African countries, to attend the Master’s Degree in Sport Science and Techniques or in Sport Management.

Second Edition – Call for Applications a.y. 2026–2027

For the 2026–2027 academic year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) will offer up to 20 scholarships, each worth €9,000. The scholarships will last 9 months, starting from 1 October 2026.

Each selected student may apply for renewal of the scholarship for the second year of study through a dedicated call that will be published during the 2026–2027 academic year, provided that they have obtained at least 36 university credits by 30 September 2027.

Applications for the second edition of the programme are open from 3 June 2026 and will close on 30 June 2026 at 12:00 (Rome time).

The application procedures are described in Article 5 of the CALL FOR APPLICATIONS.

First Edition – Renewals a.y. 2026–2027

Scholars from the first edition of the programme (2025–2026) who wish to continue their studies in the 2026–2027 academic year may apply for renewal of the scholarship for the second year. To do so, they must have completed exams worth at least 36 university credits by 30 September 2026.

By that date, applicants must send their renewal request to concorsi.ammissione@uniroma4.it, attaching their passport and transcript of completed exams.

When applying for renewal, students must also submit an internship proposal. Failure to submit the proposal does not automatically prevent renewal, but it is expected that the internship activity will be completed by the end of the second year of the Master’s programme.
