November 4th marks the completion of national unity, with the decisive victory at Vittorio Veneto in 1918 that ended the First World War between Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Italy commemorates this date in the spirit of the Republican Constitution, which in Article 11 states that “Italy repudiates war as an instrument of aggression against the freedom of other peoples and as a means of resolving international disputes; consents, on equal terms with other states, to the limitations of sovereignty necessary for an order that ensures peace and justice among nations; promotes and encourages international organizations aimed at this purpose.”

On this day we celebrate our Armed Forces as an instrument of defense of our country and, thanks to their many international missions, as key actors in promoting peace in the world.
