From 16 to 18 September 2026, Cotonou will host the Benin Deal Room 2026 (BDR 2026), an exclusive government-backed event designed to catalyze strategic investments in West Africa. It is a platform bringing together development finance institutions, institutional investors, corporates and project sponsors, with the goal of turning opportunities into concrete transactions within six months.
Benin positions itself as a strategic hub for West Africa thanks to the Port of Cotonou and the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ). Ongoing reforms aim to strengthen industrialization and local value addition, opening space for investments in agro-industry, manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure and energy.
The Benin Deal Room 2026 will showcase more than 20 pre-qualified projects, with an estimated financing need between USD 2 and 3 billion. Each project will be supported by a detailed profile including sponsor, sector, CAPEX, permits, business model and environmental/social assessments. This approach ensures transparency and facilitates investor due diligence.
Program:
- Day 1: economic context and mandate alignment.
- Day 2: closed bilateral meetings and selected site visits.
- Day 3: finalization of term sheets and blended finance discussions.
The expected outcome is the signing of at least five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) by March 2027 and a 60-day action plan for follow-up. Investors will gain access to a validated pipeline and curated meetings, while project sponsors will receive support for fundraising preparation and documentation. Strategic partners and sponsors will benefit from visibility, networking opportunities and post-event transaction support.
