The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), in collaboration with the University of Rome “Foro Italico”, has launched the first edition of the “Italy Runs Towards the Future” scholarship program. The University of Rome “Foro Italico” is one of the most prestigious institutions for scientific research and academic training in the fields of motor and sports sciences.

The program offers scholarships for young student-athletes from Nigeria, allowing them to enroll in either the Master’s degree in Sports Science and Techniques or Sports Management.

For the 2025-2026 academic year, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) will provide up to 20 scholarships. Each scholarship will last 9 months, starting from October 1, 2025, with an annual grant of €9,000 per recipient.

To apply, candidates must demonstrate at least a B2 level proficiency in the Italian language.

Each scholarship recipient may apply for renewal for the second year of studies through a dedicated call that will be published during the 2025-2026 academic year, provided they have earned at least 36 university credits by July 27, 2026.

Applications for the first edition of the program are open from June 3, 2025, until June 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM (Rome time).

Application Submission Guidelines

The application procedures are outlined in Article 5 of the official call for applications. Candidates are strongly advised to carefully review all conditions specified in the document.
